| The Government of the United States of America via the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of The Gambia (GoTG) signed a Threshold Program Grant Agreement on November 16, 2021, which provides USD $25 million to support a program implementing power governance reforms and operational improvements that address the primary binding constraint to economic growth in The Gambia. Subsequently, the GoTG established an implementing agency for the Grant entitled the Millennium Challenge Account – Gambia (MCAG) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. The overall objective of the program is aimed at implementing power sector governance reforms and operational enhancements to complement infrastructural upgrades as outlined in the Electricity Sector Roadmap. The program is divided into two projects: Power Sector Governance Project and Power Sector Operations Project | ||||||||||
